48: Personal Finance$

Today's off topic subject is personal finance. Michael has used the principles of Dave Ramsey (www.daveramsey.com) to pay off $50,000 of debt in one year. Listen to how he did it and hopes to pay off his home in 4-7 years. First step to getting a grip on things is finding out where your money goes. You don't have to go to the degree that Michael is, but you can do something.

Michael's family has only a mortgage (it's less than 1/4 of their take home income to boot) - and has no consumer debt (no car payments, credit cards or anything). Dave has a mortgage, and a small car payment to rebuild credit. Michael isn't concerned about his credit score - if you inherit $1,000,000 your credit score doesn't change a point.

Couples are waiting to get divorced because they feel too strapped financially. Why not work for the short sale instead? The debt forgiven is sometimes taxable income.

Listen in for the details! How are you doing financially?
